Frequently Asked Questions
I have an old Panasonic PABX / keyphone system. Can it still be repaired?
For many older Panasonic PABX and keyphone systems, replacement parts are no longer readily available. This includes the main system, spare keyphones, door stations and certain expansion parts (e.g door opener module, custom greeting module etc.).
Because of this, we usually do not recommend major repair works on old systems unless the issue is minor or related to cabling, programming or existing connections. In many cases, it may be more practical to plan for an upgrade or partial replacement instead.
Can you replace the old doorphone or door station connected to my PABX system?
Many older PABX door stations are no longer available, especially if the system has already been discontinued for several years. Common issues include worn-out call buttons, weather damage, or buttons being pressed too hard over time.
If a direct replacement door station is no longer available, one option is to keep the existing PABX system for internal phone communication, and install a separate audio/video intercom system to handle visitor calling and gate release.
Can my existing telephone cabling be reused?
In many cases, existing telephone cabling can be reused, but this depends on the cable condition, number of available cores, and how the old system was wired. We will need to check the existing cabling before confirming whether it can support the replacement or upgrade works.
Should I repair my old keyphone system or upgrade to a new one?
If your existing system only has a minor issue, repair may still be possible. However, if the system is obsolete, frequently faulty, or lacks available spare parts, upgrading may be a better long-term solution.
A newer system can provide more reliable operation, clearer call handling, and better supportability compared to maintaining an old system with limited parts availability.
Can a keyphone system be integrated with door access or intercom systems?
Yes, depending on the system and site requirements. Keyphone systems can sometimes be linked with door stations, door release buttons, intercoms, or access control systems.
However, the integration method will depend on the existing cabling, door lock type, control relay, and the equipment being used. We will assess the setup and recommend a suitable approach.
Do you install keyphone systems for new offices?
Yes, we can supply and install keyphone systems for offices that require internal calling, incoming line handling, reception phones, and dedicated office communication.
We can also advise on phone point locations, cabling requirements, and integration with other low-voltage systems where required.
Do you support Panasonic and NEC keyphone systems?
Yes, we have experience with Panasonic and NEC keyphone systems, including installation, configuration and maintenance works. The availability of parts will depend on the exact model and whether the system is still supported.
How long does a keyphone system installation take?
This depends on the number of extensions, cabling condition, and whether it is a new installation or replacement of an existing system. Small office installations can usually be completed within one to two days, while larger or more complex setups may require a longer schedule.
